Denver, CO, October 23, 2026 —
Investigations into reports of Border Patrol agents near early voting sites in Florida described two different encounters: a brief stop to ask about early voting before an out-of-state deployment, and a traffic stop connected to an immigration enforcement operation in a parking lot next to a polling location.
In the first instance, agents briefly stopped to inquire about early voting before deploying out of state. The information provided does not identify the site, the date, who answered their inquiry or what information they sought.
In the second instance, agents conducted a traffic stop in a parking lot adjacent to a polling location. The stop was for an immigration enforcement operation, according to the summary. It does not specify whether the person stopped was connected to the polling location or whether voting activity was affected.
The summary does not name the agencies or individuals who conducted the investigations, explain when they took place, or state whether they reached broader conclusions about the agents’ presence. It also does not provide details about the location of either encounter beyond identifying Florida and describing the second parking lot as adjacent to a polling location.
The two accounts therefore describe separate circumstances, rather than establishing that the agents had the same purpose in both. One involved an inquiry about early voting ahead of an out-of-state deployment; the other involved a traffic stop for an immigration enforcement operation. Further details about the investigations, including their findings beyond these accounts, were not provided.
