Everett sign shop invests up to $200,000 in a Vanguard VR6D-HS flatbed that prints directly onto rigid materials up to four inches thick, letting Promo Box take on thicker work in-house and ship finished signage to customers nationwide.
EVERETT, Wash., August 3, 2026 — Promo Box, an Everett production shop founded in 2008 that produces vehicle wraps and custom signage, has installed a Vanguard VR6D-HS flatbed LED UV printer. The new system prints directly onto rigid materials up to 4 inches thick and expands the company’s capacity to produce signage in Everett for delivery to customers across the United States.

The shop invested up to $200,000 in the machine, installation, and setup. The Vanguard joins the HP Latex 830 W, Epson SureColor S80600, and HP Latex R530 as Promo Box’s fourth large-format graphics printer for wraps, signs, and rigid display production. It also became the company’s second printer capable of printing directly onto rigid substrates. The first job produced on the new flatbed was a run of rigid signs for a Snohomish County youth fundraiser. A year ago, that same order required printing onto film, laminating it, and mounting it to each panel by hand. The Vanguard printed directly onto the boards and cured the ink immediately under LED UV light, eliminating those separate production steps.

“Before this, the thick and rigid jobs ran on printers built for other work,” said Andrey Tsarenko, founder and CEO of Promo Box. “We still achieved the quality we wanted, but it took a lot more time and effort to get there. This machine is built for that job, so I get the same result without the extra runs.”
The VR6D-HS uses Ricoh Gen 6 printheads, a high-speed magnetic drive, and variable 5, 10, and 15-picoliter droplets, with output up to 1,800 apparent dpi. The printer supports white and varnish ink configurations for printing on clear or dark substrates and adding selected visual effects. Its 50-by-99-inch bed handles rigid materials up to 4 inches thick, including wood, PVC, acrylic, coroplast, brushed aluminum, brick, stone, porcelain, and leather. UV ink cures immediately under LED light, although primer, laminate, or another protective finish may still be required depending on the substrate and intended use. Vanguard currently rates the printer at up to 1,001 square feet per hour in a single-row configuration or 1,557 square feet per hour in a dual-row configuration. Actual production speed depends on the installed configuration, print mode, ink coverage, substrate, and required quality.
The flatbed also makes remote fulfillment more practical. Promo Box can print rigid signs directly in Everett, pack them, and ship them to customers outside Washington. Lightweight products such as coroplast yard signs are well suited to shipping, while heavier or fragile substrates require project-specific packaging.
“You do not have to be near Everett to work with us now,” Tsarenko said. “Send us the file, or have our team design it, and we can print the signs here and ship them to your location. Before this machine, handling those rigid orders for remote customers was not practical for us.”
Much of the shop’s work is still commissioned by families and small local organizations, and the flatbed lowers production costs by printing directly onto the substrate instead of building the graphic in separate layers by hand. Families can bring in decorative surfaces they want to preserve, such as a wood plaque carrying a wedding date or a display tile reproducing a grandparent’s handwriting from a scanned letter. When a booster club orders a hundred rigid yard signs, it no longer has to pay for hand-applied laminate on every board, leaving more of the event budget for the family or organization running the event.
For local businesses, the machine closes a production gap that previously required them to outsource part of their branding work. A property manager needing room-identification and wayfinding signs and a brewery wanting its logo printed onto wood coasters and taproom panels can now get that work from the same shop that produces their vehicle wraps and crew apparel, under one color standard. The added capacity also strengthens Promo Box as a white-label partner for other wrap studios and agencies that can send the shop rigid jobs they cannot run in-house and receive finished panels under their own labels.
