MERRIMACK, NH – July 27, 2026 – PRESSADVANTAGE –
Villandry Home & Outdoor Living, a family-owned design-build company based in Merrimack, New Hampshire, has confirmed that every deck it builds is constructed on a single certified, warranty-backed system that pairs Deckorators composite surfaces with Fortress steel framing. The company, which operates as a Deckorators Certified Pro and a Fortress Building Products Alliance Member, is formalizing that combined system as the standard for all of its residential and commercial deck projects.
The approach addresses a common point of failure in deck construction, where the visible surface is selected carefully but the structure beneath it is not. By building on steel rather than a conventional wood substructure, the company aims to reduce the rot, warping, and insect damage that can shorten the life of a deck frame over time.

The choice is tied to regional conditions. Decks in New Hampshire are exposed to deep frost, repeated freeze-thaw cycling, humid summers, and significant snow load, and each of those conditions places stress on a deck’s structure over the years. A frame that is not built to account for them can shift, twist, or deteriorate, which affects the surface above it regardless of how durable that surface is.
“A deck is only as durable as the frame underneath it,” said Rich Villandry, Co-Owner of Villandry Home & Outdoor Living. “Standardizing on a certified system lets us stand behind both the surface and the structure on every project, not just the part a homeowner can see.”
Under the system, decking is installed using Deckorators composite, which carries a manufacturer material warranty of up to 50 years on qualifying products. The framing is built with Fortress steel and is backed by a limited lifetime warranty on the framing. Both warranties are issued by the respective manufacturers and are subject to their terms and coverage conditions.
The company’s certifications tie the standard to third-party programs. Deckorators Certified Pro status qualifies the company’s installations for the manufacturer’s warranty coverage, and Fortress Alliance membership designates the company as trained to build on the Fortress steel framing system. The company is also a member of the North American Deck and Railing Association and has been recognized through the Best of Houzz program.
Villandry Home & Outdoor Living manages each deck project from planning through completion. That process begins with expert planning and 3D design modeling, which allows homeowners to review the layout, materials, and configuration of a project before construction starts, and continues through foundation and framing work, permit acquisition, and the final build. Decks are constructed in composite and PVC in a range of configurations for both residential and commercial properties.
Beyond decks, the company builds porches, pergolas, patios, and other outdoor living structures, and also completes interior remodeling and finished basements, though its work centers on outdoor living.
The company is led by Co-Owner Rich Villandry, whose background in Construction Management and Architecture informs the company’s design-build process. It traces its history to 1997, when it was founded as Rick Villandry Remodeling by Rick Villandry, who began as a solo carpenter before the business grew into a multi-generational family company and was renamed Villandry Home & Outdoor Living.
The company reports more than 400 completed projects across nearly 30 years in business and holds an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. It operates from locations in Merrimack and Warner, New Hampshire, serving homeowners across Southern New Hampshire and the Lake Sunapee region.
“After close to thirty years, the goal has not changed,” said Rich Villandry. “We want to build outdoor spaces that hold up, and the systems we use are how we make that a standard rather than a promise.”
Villandry Home & Outdoor Living is a family-owned design-build company specializing in custom decks and outdoor living spaces in Southern New Hampshire, with interior remodeling as a complementary service. The company operates from Merrimack, New Hampshire, and is led by Co-Owner Rich Villandry.
